If you buy 1kg Beef jerky it's a classic cooked and dehydrated meat snack, made with salt and a handful of different seasonings. All the moisture is sucked out of the meat, which means it can hang around safely on the shelves for a long time. The highest quality biltong, on the other hand, uses a mix of vinegar and deep, strong spices every step of the way, giving the meat that extra notch of flavour. It also packs a juicier punch, because it has a slightly higher amount of fat running through the meat. Beef jerky has less fat content - hence why it can be drier (and tougher on the teeth). When storing your biltong in a cool dry place, this will prevent it from going moldy. Freezing your biltong can make it last for a year, which is awesome. You can extend this time by simply keeping it in the fridge or by vacuum sealing it. These storage conditions will have it last for weeks or months. Our biltong 1kg only starts forming molds when exposed to oxygen, therefore you need to keep it sealed until the time you want to eat it. This is a delicious biltong, much superior to other brands, full of protein and healthy.
I want to post a counter-argument to the fellow who is concerned about sodium nitrate and potassium sorbate. Sodium nitrate is a form of salt used to preserve food. It can be found in plants and still water. It will only cause problems if you overdose with 3.7 milligrams per kilo of body weight, which is far from the reality of this snack. Potassium Sorbate is a salt derivative of sorbic acid, an unsaturated fat that's also used as a food preservative. It's safe to consume, doesn't accumulate in the body, and it breaks down into carbon dioxide and then water.
So the biltong is perfectly safe. Go ahead and try it.
Such a shame that this product contains sodium nitrate and potassium sorbate. These are chemicals with known side effects.
Tastes great really good product, but it is spoiled by sodium nitrate and potassium sorbate, 2 quite harmful nasties.
If the brothers could propose an alternative without those bad stuff I'd be happy to make another command. I know the conservation problem, I'll just freeze it until I want to eat some.
My new favourite Biltong! Ignore than idiot who gave it 2 stars because he wants to take 2 months to eat one bag!
I have tried several different type and brand this is the best
